Card types

In Deviant Factions there are 3 types of cards: Headquarters, Characters, and Technologies. Types tell us about how a card will interact with other cards and the Board.

Headquarters

Headquarters represent an operations center for a Faction, which players have to protect at all costs in order to win the game. When you build your deck, you must choose one HQ among those available for all players at our website.

  1. Name: Each HQ has a codename assigned by the members of the Faction operating in it.

  2. Faction: Each headquarters is a center of operations, a refuge or even the home of the members of a certain faction.

  3. Structure: This is the amount of damage your HQ is able to sustain during the game. If the Structure reaches 0, the HQ is destroyed.

  4. Abilities: Headquarters have different effects that may trigger under certain circumstances or may represent ongoing effects as they stay in play.

  5. Ability Icons: These are visual representations of some abilities.

Characters

Characters represent Deviants and humans that have joined to fight for a shared interest. They are in charge of defending your HQ and plotting the destruction of your opponent's HQ.

  1. Name: Each Character has a name or nickname to go by.

  2. Faction: Most Deviants fight for a Faction. Take note that Undeviants don’t have any allegiance.

  3. Gender: Characters can be Male, Female, or Non-binary. Some effects will take this into consideration.

  4. Attack: Amount of damage dealt by the Character during each attack.

  5. Attack type: Characters attack using one of three different styles. We will hop into that soon.

  6. Health: This is the amount of damage that a Character can sustain. If it reaches 0, the Character dies and leaves the game.

  7. Planning: A Character can only attack, trigger their abilities, or use their ongoing effects when they’re Ready. That is, when this number is 0. At the end of each turn, each Character's Planning is reduced by 1.

  8. Abilities: Characters have different effects that may trigger under certain circumstances or may represent ongoing effects as they stay in play.

  9. Ability Icons: These are visual representations of some abilities.

Technologies

Technologies may enhance your Characters, provide protection for your HQ, or bring all kinds of effects to the match.

  1. Name: Each Technology has a name.

  2. Faction: Most Technologies can only be used by Characters from the Faction that created or modified them and won’t work if wielded by adversaries. Others, factionless, are so simple that even an Undeviant can hold them.

  3. Resistance: The amount of hits that a Technology can sustain without being destroyed.

  4. Abilities: Technologies have different effects that may trigger under certain circumstances or may represent ongoing effects as they stay in play.

  5. Ability Icons: These are visual representations of some abilities.
