Character Clash and Attack Types

During the Fight Step, a clash of Characters occurs in each column with at least one Ready Character. In each clash, Characters deal damage equal to their Attack to one or more opposing Characters.

Basic

Characters with Basic Attacks deal damage to their rival Character – the one that’s right in front of them. If there’s no Character in that Slot, a Character with Basic Attack will Hit the Technology behind it, reducing its resistance by 1. If there’s no Technology either, it will damage the opposing HQ.

Ranged (L or R)

Characters with Ranged Attacks deal damage to Characters that are not in front of them. A Character card always shows how far they can hit (a positive number) and in which direction (Left or Right). Whenever a Character with Ranged Attack Type attacks, they will deal damage to the foe that's X columns to their left or right, depending on their specifications. If that Slot is empty, they reduce their Range until they find a foe to attack or reach their own column. Whenever this happens, the attack resolves as if it were a Basic Attack.

Blast

Characters with Blast Attacks deal damage to more than one opposing Character at the same time. A Character card always shows the reach of their Blast (a natural number) and a direction (Center, Left, or Right). Whenever a Character with Blast Attack Type attacks, they deal damage to their rival and to X foes to their left or right, depending on their stats. If there are no foes within reach, the attack resolves as if it were a Basic Attack.
